Where we played during 2018:-

Bursledon Brickworks- Christmas Fair- Sunday November 25th- We played several sets, including a selection of Carols.

Swanmore Fete July 14th 2018- A hot, hot, hot, day!!-  Swanmore Fete is organised by Meon Valley Lions Club, and is a major annual event in the area. Several other Bands played throughout  the day from the main stage, and we provided the entertainment in the Food Court area. We played 3 sets in support of Swanwick Lions Club, starting at 11:45, and finished our last set at 15:40.

Sarisbury Green Fete Saturday June 9th: A fine warm day brought out an incredible number of people to the Fete. We played several sets throughout the day, finishing at aroind 15:30.

Romsey Memorial Park- Sunday June 3rd- The local people came out to picnic and visit the park cafe, and we performed a selection of Reels, jigs, polkas, waltzes and contemporary melodies. from 14:30 - 16:30.

where we played during 2017:-

  • The Fogeys are playing at Bitterne Historial Societys' Christmas Party on December 9th.
  • The Band finished the 2017 season by playing at Burlsedon Brickworks Christmas Event on November 26th.......
  • The Band played at at Bursledon Brickworks Halloween Event on Sunday 29th October.
  • The Fogeys performed a selection of meleodies, and Country, Skiffle, and Contemporary songs at the Bursledon Brickworks Museum Train Event on Sunday 24th September. 
  • Mottisfont Village Fete-  Sunday 13th August. Crowds filled the village recreation ground on a warm sun filled, calm, summers day.  We played several sets from 11am until near the close of the fete.
  • Swanmore Fete on Saturday July 8th-We enjoy playjng at this annual event, organised by Meon Valley Lions.  This year, we played several sets, and included some of our songs from the Fogeys repertoire. The warm sunny day kept the Tea and Bar tents busy!!
  • West Wellow Fete- Sunday 25th June-another fine June day, and we played several sets from 11am to 3pm.
  • Sarisbury Green- June 10th- a fine day brought out huge crowds, and we played several sets throughout the afternoon, in aid of Swanwick Lions fund for the Fareham Community Hospital medical equipment project.
  • Romsey Band in Park- June 4th-  The Band played in the Memorial Park on a fine June day.
  • May 13th- Beer Festival at Bursledon Brickworks- The Fogeys played at this event- the first Beer Festival the Brickworks have organised. The event was a huge success, and all tickets were sold out. We played 2 x sets of Country, Skiffle, and contempary melodies and songs.
  • We played at Bursledon Brickworks 'Big Spring Steam up' on Sunday April 23rd, in the performance area near the general craft and specialised stalls.
  • Our first performance of 2017 was for Swamwick Lions clubs' 'Burns Night'.  This was held on February 25th, at the Harmony Hall in Fareham,a month later than the usual date, and was in aid of medical equipment for Fareham Community Hospital. The Band played as guests arrived in the Hall, with the Piper playing in the car park. The Haggis was then formally piped in, the 'address' given by band member Lion Fred, followed by an excellent dinner. The usual 'Immortal Memory' and Toast speeches followed- The hilarious 'Toast tae the Lassies' was given by Lion Reg Norton, with a suitable 'Reply' from the Chair of the Friends of Fareham Community Hospital, Jill Sadler. The Band then performed melodies and songs, followed by a performance of Scottish Dancing from a team of Lady Scottish Dancers, who then led the guests in a few dances.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

Where we played in 2016:-

  • Christmas Fair at Burlsedon Brickworks Museum- 27th November. The museum was packed with visitors. 50 stalls seling a variety of Christmas and craft goods, steam engines, a fantastic Meccano exhibition, Bell ringers and a 'Signing' choir, plus of course Santa Claus, made a great end to the museums' year of events. This was also the last performance of the year for the Band, and we played several sets, including Carols.
  • Bursledon Brickworks Museum, Halloween event- on October 23rd. The Band played 2 sets in the afternoon. A very busy day at the Museum with several hundred visitors attending.
  • 25th September- Bursledon Brickworks Train Event-The Fogeys played several sets of melodies and songs, including such old favourites as 'The Runaway Train', 'Morningtown Ride', and City of New Orleans'. We played in a small marquee in the Yard, where people could sit and listen while having a coffee. The weather was fine and pleasant for late September.
  • Mottisfont Village Fete on Sunday the 14th August. We enjoy playing at this annual fete, and on a very hot and sunny afternoon we performed several sets. The local public really came out in support, and the Dog competition had over 30 entries!! 
  • Swanmore Fete- Saturday 9th July. A warm and pleasant day brought out the crowds to this annual Fete, organised by Meon Valley Lions. From our position in the Food Court area, we played 2 sets, starting at 12 noon, and finishing at 3pm.
  • St Anthonys' School Titchfield Common- Music Festival 2nd July. A trio from our band had a 45 minute spot. Frequent downpours were the order of the day, and after a particularly prolonged period of heavy rain, we set up in one of the small marquees, and played melodies and songs, for around an hour, to a small but appreciative audience.
  •  On Sunday 5th June, we played in Romsey, at the Memorial Park bandstand. The afternoon was warm and sunny, and we had a great audience of people out for a pleasant afternoon in the park.
  • Woolston Methodist Church Musical evening on Friday 4th March- We took the audience on a musical tour of the world, playing melodies and songs from various countries.
  • Swanwick Lions Burns Night Jan 30th 2016.   This event, held in the Harmony Hall in Fareham, was in aid of the Wessex Haven, the support center for breast cancer patients, which opened recently in Titchfield. The Haggis was piped in and the 'address' given by one of our band members, and after an excellent traditional 3 course dinner, the 'Immortal Memory' 'Toast tae the Lassies' and the 'Reply' were presented. The Band then played several sets of Scottish melodies and songs, with guests dancing to the Gay Gordons and waltzes. The evening ended at 11:30 with everyone on the dance floor for 'Auld Lang Syne'.

Where we played in 2015

  • On Sunday 15th November, we played again at the Burseldon Brickworks Museum, Craft & Flower Festival.

 

  •  Sunday October 11th saw us at the Bursledon Brickworks Museum, where we played upstairs in the Craft Stall area.

 

  • We played inside St johns'Church, North Baddesley, on September 26th, at the Scarecrow Festival.

 

  • The Fogeys played at the OASIS Bar in Southanpton on August 22nd.

 

  • Mottisfont Village Fete on Sunday August 9th was a beautiful sunny day, which brought out the crowds. We played several sets throughout the afternoon, in front of the old School House, to a very appreciative seated audience.

 

  • Swanmore Fete, held this year on July 11th, is one of our favourite venues. During the warm and pleasant afternoon, we played several sets, alternating with the other Bands and choral groups.

 

  • On Sunday June 21st, we played at West Wellow Country Fair. This was a new venue for us, and several people commented on enjoying listening to our music, and we hope to be invited to play next year.                                        The Fete was well attended, with a wide range of activities and stalls and food, and the weather was sunny  and warm.

 

  • Sunday June 14th was our annual performance at Romsey Memorial Park bandstand. We played from 3pm to 5pm, with a short break for tea from Sallys' Cafe. The weather was reasonably kind, which kept people in the park, and we hope we helped to make it an enjoyable Sunday afternoon.

 

  • We played at Bursledon Brickworks Museum, 'Big Spring Steam up,' on April 12th.

 

  • Our  first gig of 2015 was at Swanwick Lions Burns Supper on January 17th, at the Harmony Hall in Fareham.

As the piper played outside the hall to arriving guests, we played a few Scottish melodies as people entered the dining room. After the excellent Haggis dinner was served, the Immortal Memory given, and speeches completed, we performed 2 sessions of melodies and Scottish songs, including several of Robert Burns compositions.

Where we played during 2014:-

  • Bursledon Brickworks Halloween open day was on Sunday 26th October, and we played 3 x sets in the upstairs performance area. Excellent autumn weather allowed people to spend time outside admiring the traction engines and fairground machines, and the cafe did a great trade !!
  • The Folk & Skiffle Night in Woolston Methodist Church on Saturday October 18th was well attended, and an excellent supper was provided. We played melodies and songs, with a selection from The Fogeys  'Skiffle' repertoire.
  • We played in St Johns Church, North Baddesley, on September 27th, at the Scarecrow Festival. The day was pleasantly warm, and most folks were outside , but people came into the church to listen to our music. As in St Andrews Church a few weeks ago, we played without our P.A. sytem,.
  • On the evening of Sunday 24th August, we played to a packed house at St Andrews Church in Mottisfont Village. Our vocalists sang some folk songs, and we played some of our favourite melodies, finishing with a rousing rendition of Sailors Hornpipe, with the audience raising the church rafters !!!
  • ON SUNDAY 10TH AUGUST we played at Mottisfont VILLAGE FETE. The morning was wet and windy, but by the time we arrived to set up, the clouds broke up, and the afternoon was warm and sunny, with some very strong winds. The sunshine brought out the crowds, and there were planty of stalls, archery, books and plants for sale, a bar, and an excellent BBQ. We always enjoy playing at this Fete,  and we had a good audience for the 2 x sets we played.
  • Swanmore Fete on Sat July 12th. -This event, organised by Meon Valley Lions, had something for everyone-  arena events,  3 x Bands, classic cars and motorbikes, game stalls etc. We played several fetes throughout the gloriuosly warm afternoon.
  • Locksheath Shopping Centre on June 28th was a special day in support of Swanwick Lions, who are donating a Heart Defibrilator to the Community.    From 12;'30 to 3pm we performed Country, Skiffle, and folk songs, along with some traditional melodies, to passing shoppers.   At 2:15 pm, on behalf of the community, the The Mayor of Fareham accepted the defibulator from Harvey, a little boy who is a special friend of Swanwick Lions.

 

  • On Saturday June 21st we performed at St James Church in Southampton, at a Folk & Skiffle night in aid of 'Georges Trust'
  • Romsey Memorial Park Bandstand- Sunday June 15th- we played from 15:00- 17:00,  with a short break. The weather was cool and cloudy, so not so many people out in the park as expected, but a number of people stayed throughout our performance.
  • Langrish Fete on June 8th was a beautiful warm day. We played 2 x sets during the afternoon, alternating with another excellent band, 'Monkeys Fist'

  • On Sunday 25th May, we played at Bursledon Brickworks Gala Day. We played several sets over the afternoon in the upstairs craft stall area.  The pleasant sunny day gave visitors time to linger over the motorbikes and classic cars, including an E-type jag and several american classics, displayed in the yard.

 

 


 Summary of our 2013 gigs


  • Naomi House Childrens' Hospice Open Day & Fete, on September 15th started off fairly dry, but by mid afternoon had deteriorated to wind and rain. The pending rain in the morning did not turn off the visistors, and we played until conditions made it unsafe to continue with power for our P.A system !!!

 

  • Sunday August 11th was Mottisfont Village Fete, and the warm sunny afternoon brought out the crowds. We played several sets during the afternoon, finishing with a resounding rendition of 'Oh Susannah'.
  • Swanmore Carnival & Fete on Saturday July 13th was a hot one !!! Temperatures of up to 30degC brought in the crowds, although many people did not stay all afternoon due to the heat.  The Fete is held in the village Recreation Ground, and the Band played near the Tea Tent and the Beer Tent. Classic cars and motorcycles, Hovercraft displays, a Samba band, and many stalls made the Fete another succesful event for the organisers, Meon Valley Lions.

 

  • On Saturday 22nd June we performed at St James Rd Methodist Church, Southampton.

This was  a 'Folk & Skiffle Night' in aid of  'Noreens Kids'- Wheelchairs for Romania. There were several acts, including a Skiffle band, and 'The Fogeys' also performed

  • Romsey Memorial Park - Bandstand- On Sunday 16th June, after a morning of light rain and drizzle, the afternoon turned out fine, and we started playing at 3pm, performing  2 sets until 5pm.
  • We played at Sarisbury Green Fun Day, on Saturday June 8th. The event opened to the public at 12 noon, finishing around 4:30 pm, and the sun shone throughout the day.
  • Awbridge Village Fete, on Saturday 11th May, was well attended despite the poor weather.  Several periods of heavy rain tried to dampen the proceedings, but everyone still seemed to enjoy the day. We played several sets from 12 nooon until 4:30 pm.
  • On Saturday April 20th we played at the Crofton Lions St Georges Fete in Stubbington,   St George rode in on his horse around mid-day, and the fine weather, arena events, market stalls, and 3 Bands, made for a great day out for all ages. We played selections of reels, jigs and waltzes, from our marquee beside the Library, in support of Swanwick Lions Club.
  • Our first gig was Sunday April 14th at the Bursledon Brickworks 'Spring Steam up'.  The event opened at 10 am , and we  playied two x 1 hour sets, at 11am, and 1pm.  Loads of steam engines in the yard, and all the craft stalls in the upstairs gallery area, made for an enjoyable day out for all those who attendedFlyer small
